Leaks suggest that the OnePlus 15R won’t be the rebranded Ace 6 we expected, it’s likely tied to the upcoming Ace 6T instead, running on a different chip entirely. And while that may sound like a downgrade, there’s more to the story.
OnePlus 15R could launch with Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 instead
Initial rumors pointed to the 15R using the Snapdragon 8 Elite, like its premium sibling, the OnePlus 15. But new info from tipster @GadgetsData indicates a shift: the 15R will reportedly pack the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, not the higher-tier 8 Elite Gen 5.
While that change may disappoint some spec-chasers, the 8 Gen 5 isn’t exactly a slouch. In leaked benchmarks, the chip reportedly pushed the OnePlus Ace 6T past 3.5 million points on AnTuTu V11 a step above the older Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and within striking distance of recent Elite scores. And unlike its flashier cousin, the 8 Gen 5 may actually run cooler and more efficiently, making it a smarter pick for long-term daily use.
The OnePlus 15R likely mirrors the Ace 6T
If the 15R really is a rebadged Ace 6T, here’s what users might get:
- Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor
- 165Hz display, likely AMOLED
- Battery over 8,000mAh
- 100W fast charging
- 50MP dual rear camera (no telephoto lens)
This combo would target performance-focused users who don’t need every flagship feature. The massive battery alone sets it apart in a crowd of mid-range clones.
OnePlus 15R release window narrows
With the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 launching on November 26, the Ace 6T will be the first to show off its potential. That lines up with expectations for the 15R to arrive globally in December, shortly after the Ace 6T hits the Chinese market.
Even without the Elite chip, OnePlus might be positioning the 15R as a high-performance sleeper one that trades brute force for balance, efficiency, and endurance. Not everyone needs 4 million benchmark points. Some just want their phone to last through the day without throttling.
